Yara Eid’s interview with skynews and, much like most Western media, they used a misleading framing and downplayed Palestinian lives. But she refused to let them get away with it.

in gaza, the indonesian hospital has officially lost power. the ministry of health says they have 48 hours until the rest of the hospitals lose power. this impacts people (children, even) on life support machines. this impacts ~120 newborns in incubators. this impacts patients on dialysis. gaza has been cut off from fuel and aid trucks that could provided much needed fuel have not yet been permitted to cross in.

What a brilliant woman. Queen Rania of Jordan articulates the truth about Palestinians and Israel.
‘This conflict did not begin on October 7, although it is being portrayed as that. Most networks are covering the story under the title of 'Israel at War’, but for many Palestinians on the other side of the separation wall war has never left. This is a 75 year old story - a story of overwhelming death and displacement of the Palestinian people. It is a story of an occupation under apartheid regime that occupies land, that demolishes houses, confiscates land, military incursions, night raids.
The context of a nuclear-armed regional superpower that occupies, oppresses and commits daily, documented crimes against Palestinians is missing from the narrative.’
'The Palestinian people have for too long been living under oppression and dehumanization. They suffer daily indignities and human rights violations. Whether it being jailed or humiliated or harassed. They do not have freedom of movement. You have over 500 checkpoints in the West Banks. […] This is a problem that far precedes Hamas and will continue after Hamas. This is a fight for freedom and for justice.’
Christian Amanpour’s responses were abysmal. “Gee, you know Israel’s really not going to like what you’re saying. Do you condemn Hamas? Some people say they’re to blame for all that Israel’s doing to Gaza. Let me remind you you have a peace treaty with them, are you sure you want to be saying all this? Let’s talk about October 7th some more.”
